First of all, I want to let you know that our work picture continues to be very bright. We have been depending heavily on travelers to fill our calls. If you get the chance, please thank them. As always, the Eighth District Health and Pension Plans are of great interest and the last few years have been rather troublesome. However, we have been able to turn the Health Trust around and bring it back to a very stable financial condition and also bring back dental coverage as well as a few other improvements designed to reduce costs and improve the quality of life for our members and their dependants. As you know by now, the Pension Trustees made the tough decision of reducing the multiplier from 3.1% to 2.3%. The decision to make this change was not an easy one for the Trustees, and there were a lot of avenues explored. They have already set the groundwork for increasing the multiplier as the fund begins to grow in strength. This change does not affect current retirees. There is a DVD available that goes into more detail. Please call if you would like a copy. We have had open contracts at Lower Valley Energy, High Plains Power and Big Horn REA. All seemed to have turned out pretty well with raises ranging from 4.5% to 7.3% as well as an increase in foreman and mechanics base rates. We also were successful in securing increased employer contribution in annuity and NRECA Pension rates. I would also like to mention that we are currently holding a monthly informational meeting in Jackson Hole, 6:30 p.m., the Tuesday after the second Saturday of the month. The meetings are held at the Antler Inn. In closing, I would like to encourage everyone to attend the Union and Unit meetings to find out what the current issues are as well as to let us know what is going on in your area. Fraternally, Charlie

Eighth District Electrical Pension Fund Annuity Plan The following changes have been made to the Rules and Regulations of the Eighth District Electrical Pension Fund Annuity Plan: Effective August 23, 2006 Article 5.01 (c) of the plan has been amended to allow a Participant who is at least age 55 to receive a total distribution of his account after he has terminated Covered Employment without having to wait for three consecutive months without contributions to the Plan. Effective December 1, 2006, Article 4 was amended to add a new Section 4.16 entitled “Catch-Up Contributions”: Section 4.16 Catch-Up Contributions. Effective December 1, 2006, a Participant who is over age 50 shall be permitted to make catch-up contributions to the Plan in the amount of $5,000.00. This amount shall be increased by $500.00 each year beginning in 2007 through 2010. Catch-Up contributions are not subject to the maximum annual additional limitations or annual limits on cash or deferred wage contributions to the Plan as otherwise provided in this Plan. Eighth District Pension News Effective April 1, 2007 the Eighth District Pension multiplier will decrease from 3.1% to 2.3%. The decrease will enable the plan to become fully funded in the near future. When the fund is at 105%, with the advice from the consultants, the multiplier will increase 1/10 of 1% per year, as long as the fund is in sound shape. This does not affect the current retirees. Eighth District Electrical Benefit Fund The Eighth District Electrical Benefit Fund has sent out new Summary Plan Description Booklets. They will soon be sending out new Identification Cards for all members. Casper Rockies Tickets The Casper Rockies Baseball tickets will be available soon at the Hall. Call the Local Union office if you are interested in attending the games. Wyoming Cavalry Tickets The Wyoming Cavalry tickets are available at the Hall. There is a limit of two tickets per member per game. We would like to make sure that everyone gets a chance to see a game. Please call the hall if you are interested. |
